Another huge hentai, manga, doujinshi site. 1 million pages indexed by Google and over 12m+ monthly visitors says enough to confirm that this site is worth our time to review. It’s quite complex, or maybe just a bit overcomplicated by using many ads and redirects on site. But overall, it’s a site full of good content.

Design and usability:

The layout is also more complicated than usual. There are 3 parts of layout - the main content area with content, left sidebar replacing the main menu, and right menu with page setting, chat, and trending titles. What hits you in the eyes is a huge banner ad right under the header (the ad actually looks like a header).On the homepage, you can see:

• Search bar - you can search by typing into this field, but I recommend to click Advanced search (gear icon) and use their well-made precise search page
• Huge banner Ad - you can ignore this, but I bet you will click this ad at least a few times
• Submenu - Staff Pick is a default option and shows selected titles by their stuff (or robot). Other columns are just links to different sites.
• Staff Pick - gallery of random 12 popular titles
• Reading now - list of 10 titles that people are reading right now
• Reader recommendation - a list of ten titles recommended by other readers
• Newly completed - titles with newly added status “completed” 
• Recently upload - newest titles

In a left sidebar that replaces the main menu on the site are these items:

• Home - link to a homepage
• Directory - you can find sorting options and some categories here, for example Trending, Most popular, Newest, Doujinshi, Tankoubon and more
• Tag Directory - this item will send you to a page where you can browse all categories, tags and other taxonomies, you can search and see all the tags and categories that contain your searched term
• Forum - access to hentai forum, but was under maintenance
• Advance Search - as I mentioned above, their advanced search is excellent, you should definitely try it
• Ranking - this should be your first destination on Hentai2read.com because here are the best titles in these periods (yesterday, weekly, monthly, overall)
• Surprise - this link will open random title for you, try it if you want to explore something new
• FAQ - list of frequently asked questions about hentai, manga and this website
• Other items - these are just ads or links to other sites

I noticed one thing that bothers me a bit. When you see a list/grid of titles, you can’t click the thumbnail to open the title. You need to hit the name of the title, right under the thumbnail (which is a small place to target).And also one thing that I really like. When you click three dots next to the manga’s rank (little flame icon in the top left corner), you can bookmark titles in different categories. These are On-hold and Plan to read. And there are more than these two. I find this very useful for regular members.

Gallery:

The gallery is well-built. There are big ads above and under the “player”, but it is evident because they need to finance this project. What I like about the gallery:

• Fast skip between pages using page dropdown menu
• Fast skip between chapters using chapter dropdown menu
• Option to click “Thumbnails” button and see thumbnails of all images
• Very fast switching to next/previous image by arrows on a keyboard (don’t know how they do it, but images load instantly)
• Bookmarking options (I mentioned there are even more bookmark categories), there are On-Hold, Plan to Read, Completed, Favorite and Reading bookmark categories - I really like this

Overall, galleries on Hentai2read.com are cool, and I really like them. One of the best galleries I have seen on hentai/doujinshi/manga sites.

Content:

There are lots of content, and if you’re into hentai, you’ll definitely find something you like. Their advanced search function will help you with that. One important thing about their content is that it’s almost all censored (mostly with black or white stripes). This could be a decision-maker but try their Ranking section first because there are fantastic titles with engaging stories and super long chapters.

Mobile version:

The mobile version is more well-arranged, in my opinion. Without those sidebars on both sides, it just has a cleaner look. I tried their gallery on mobile (iPhone X), and it works very well. I like that I can go to the next/previous image by clicking the left or right side of the image in a gallery. You can’t move to next/prev by swiping left or right tho. What’s even better is that banner ads on mobile are smaller and look much less disturbing.

Community:

You can expect long discussions on popular titles (in the Ranking section are most popular). Communities on hentai sites are strong in general, and this is no exception. Although this site is a bit more commercial than others that I reviewed, I still see big communities that upload artworks, discuss stories of the titles, and so on.

To sum it up, there are the decision-makers for you. Most of the content is censored. There are useful features like advanced search, bookmark system with categories (Read later, Completed…), fast gallery, and useful Ranking page with best of the best. There are also downs like number and size of ads on the site, number of links to other sites or some user experience things, like thumbnail of title which is not clickable.
